About
After a three-year break, Szövegkovács visits Miercurea Ciuc again. One of the founders of the thirteen-year-old language-preservation workshop, Melánia Ferencz, will present three unconventional, playful publications — Anyanyelvi villámtanácsok, Szóbuborékok, and Rendőr-e a fekvőrendőr? — to those interested, who this year can also discover a new one titled Olvasóból korrektor.
The presentation will touch upon the new spelling regulation celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, as well as the much-debated question of whether it is worthwhile to discuss spelling-related issues in today’s world. The Day of the Hungarian Language and the Day of the Hungarian Diaspora — celebrated on November 13 and November 15 — will also be mentioned. Despite appearances, the latter is worth discussing even within the Hungarian majority regions.
The author has experienced her Hungarian identity in several different ways: she was born in Csíkszentdomokos, then lived in Târgu Mureș and Timișoara, and between September 2024 and June 2025 she served in Zurich as a Kőrösi Csoma Sándor Program scholarship holder. She currently lives in the mother country, in Budapest, from where she continues to guide the path of Szövegkovács.
The language-preservation workshop was founded in the summer of 2012 together with her first cousin, Erika Kósa, who lives in Miercurea Ciuc and works as a proofreader. In September 2015, their work was recognized with the MÚRE Award by the Association of Hungarian Journalists in Romania.
