1st Transylvanian Neurodiversity Conference

A conference dedicated to recognising individuality within the community, raising new questions, and inspiring the courage and curiosity to explore life beyond diagnoses. It aims to shed light on both the challenges and the possibilities.

We believe every child deserves to be valued and given respect, safety and the opportunity to thrive. That is why it is essential to bring together all the professionals who accompany children during their learning and development—from kindergarten and school to healthcare, leisure activities, faith communities, sports and, ultimately, the workplace. The challenges do not simply disappear when childhood ends.

What does a psychiatrist, psychologist, special education teacher, hearing specialist or sociologist see in the same difficulty? How can we connect our experiences of behaviour, learning and adaptation to better understand both individual ways of functioning and the role of the environment?

How do individual needs meet the expectations and possibilities of the education system? How much adaptation can we expect from a child, and how can institutions change? We will explore educators’ room for action, the conditions needed for support and practical solutions that can be implemented in everyday life.

What makes a community a place where people can not only fit in but also thrive? From sports and shared meals to art, faith and employment, we will explore what helps or hinders the participation of neurodivergent children and adults. How can shared rules accommodate individual needs, and can we recognise abilities beyond the challenges of adaptation?

Once we know that help is needed, do we know what comes next? Who can guide families through assessments, developmental support and available assistance?

We will discuss how families, professionals and communities can combine their knowledge to make support accessible in time, ensuring that families do not have to face the search for the next step alone.
