Simion Bogdan-Mihai at Taste of Transylvania 2025

Bogdan-Mihai Simion (1990, Râmnicu Vâlcea) is a young Romanian cobza (lute) player and traditional music preservationist. Since the age of 15, he has traveled across Romania collecting and reviving the cobza's musical heritage. With only about ten cobza players left in the country, he is the youngest among them. His repertoire spans from peasant ballads to urban lăutărească music, early 20th-century café tangos, and waltzes, blending Romanian, Roma, Ottoman, and Central European influences. His "Fragmente" project with chef Mihai Toader explores both regional music and cuisine.
